Trip 2004
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - 27th August 2004 - 30th August 2004
42 members of Anikas Sports
Club (AIBSC) took advantage of the Malaysian Merdeka Day holiday
(falls on 31 August) to go for their annual trip to Ho Chi Minh
City, Vietnam.
The 4-days trip saw the group having
a great time partaking of the local Vietnamese food and sightseeing
the width of the city. Some of the interesting places they visited
include the War Museum, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame
Cathedral, City Post Office, City Hall Square, City Theatre and
Chinatown. The tour also included a river cruise dinner for the
group onboard a ferryboat. After the dinner, the ferryboat took
the diners on a leisure cruise down the Saigon River, to the accompaniment
of an entertaining musical band onboard.
As is the tradition, both the ladies
and men went into a shopping frenzy at the many markets, bazaars
and shopping spots. Some of the best buys included the wooden scaled-model
ships and old galleons, Vietnam-manufactured sneakers and sports
bags, ladies bead handbags and the local handicrafts. Vietnamese
coffee powder and silk-wear also featured highly on the must-buy
list.
