Anika's
Caring Chairty 2004 - Children's Drawing Contest
Following
the success of the 2003 charity screening of the Peter Pan movie
in aid of several local welfare homes, Anika again undertook to
fulfill its corporate responsibility to the community in 2004 by
sponsoring on its own a charity drawing contest for children from
8 different welfare homes and orphanages.
In
conjunction with the charity event, Anika also commissioned a special
printing of its 2005 corporate calendar. The special edition table-top
calendar featured the best 12 drawings selected from among the submissions,
together with a special narrative of the corresponding young artists.
The calendars were distributed among Anikas clients and business
associates, hoping to draw further attention and awareness to the
plights of the featured welfare homes and their young dependents,
as well as the need for continuous charitable contributions from
the private sector in general.
Lim
Chi Ann, 15, won the grand prize for her outstanding entry, titled
Love Your Nature. Apart from an individual prize, she
also brought back a cash prize of RM5,000 for her welfare home,
House of Joy. The other winners took back an individual prize each,
along with RM1,000 for their respective homes.
A prize-giving
ceremony was held at Anikas premises in Kuala Lumpur on 14
December 2004 for all the winners and representatives from the participating
homes. The Chairman of Anikas board of directors, Mr. Bobby
Wong, presented the prizes to the children.
The
event was covered by The Metro Section of The Star newspaper in
their publication on 25 January 2005. Please click
