REPORT: WBN ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE 2006, KUALA LUMPUR
The
Closing Report - 20 October 2006.
Anika
Insurance Brokers Sdn. Bhd. (Anika) has been honoured with the privilege
of hosting the WBN Asia Pacific Regional Conference 2006 at the
Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in July 2006.
The
event spanned 2 days from 28 to 29 July 2006 and featured an exciting
array of activities for the delegates, including a golf game at
an exclusive golf course, a city tour of the Malaysian capital,
a fun-filled dinner at an international restaurant located at 282
meters above ground and culminated with a sunset cruise, cocktail
and dinner at the famous man-made Putrajaya Lake.
The
conference attracted well over 30 participants from 17 countries
throughout the world, comprising both fellow WBN members and close
business associates. With the exception of the Philippines, we had
a full turnout from all the WBN members in the Asia Pacific region.
The
actual conference itself saw quite a few notable presentations from
the members. All the invited speakers for the conference commented
they had very attentive listeners from the forum. There was a fruitful
and energetic discussion on the future directions of the WBN organisation,
its associating relevance to its continuously growing members and
how they could use the strength and visibility of the network to
further promote their interests in their own markets.
The
forum had also responded well to the participation of PT Fresnel
Perdana Mandiri, a potential new WBN member from Indonesia whom
Anika invited to the conference in its bid to help the expansion
of WBN in the region.
Judging
from the responses Anika has received from the participants, the
conference and all the accompanying events had been well received.
The management and staff of Anika have also benefited greatly from
the event. We were particularly impressed with the energy and the
close relationship among all the WBN members that were clearly felt.
There was also a feeling of aggressiveness and strong determination
within the network that was reassuring in paving the way for the
continual growth of WBN.
Finally,
all of us in Anika would like to express a special thank you to
the Chairman of WBN, Mr. Alec Finch and his lovely wife, Joan, for
attending the conference. We also wish to thank all the participants
as well as the executive committee of WBN for the great support
and cooperation they have given us in making the conference a success.
